Now: The intersection of Market and Church Street is a juncture just south of Duboce Triangle that serves as the above-ground gateway to Mission Dolores, Noe Valley, and all things south.

Then: The cluster of eateries on Church Street are mostly built into the ground floors of Victorians. The Muni line made it an easy target for businesses.

How To Get There: This area is more of a gateway to other neighborhoods, which just happens to have shops, cafes, and restaurants of its own. Travel to here, or through here, is easy on any Muni train line. The J-Church passes through Church Street above ground, while the M, L, K, and T stop at Church Station below ground. The N-Judah stops just north, at Duboce and Church.
